Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj (Producing Artistic Director) is an Indo-Afro-Caribbean American artist, educator, and activist.  He was hailed in the New York Times as “one of the most talented directors in New York these days”. He is the Third Vice President of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) for the Borough of Brooklyn as well as Chair of the Equity in the Arts & Culture Committee.

As a playwright, Maharaj has authored several plays, including Little Rock, a historical drama about the Little Rock Nine (2018 NY Times Critics’ Pick; 2015 Barrymore Award), Daisy, inspired by the life and legacy of the indomitable Daisy Lee Bates, and Hansberry/Baldwin (Semi-Finalist for the Eugene O'Neil Playwright Festival.) Commissioned work: When You Come for One of Us, You Come for All of Us AKA This is America (New Sanctuary Coalition), Hope in the Key of Life (Red Mountain Theatre Company – Violins of Hope), Diss Diss and Dis Dat, Grey, Twenty-Five, Black Footnotes (Sloan Grant/Ensemble Studio Theater) and Children of the Dream. Co. Written and Co. Conceived work: Sweet Lorraine, The Ballad of Trayvon Martin, Mother Emanuel (Winner of the 2016 NY Fringe Overall Excellence Award for Musical), History of the Word, and Exposures. Adapted work: Othello: The PantherBrown Gyal in di RIng, Mississippi Night, Darfur Nativity, Straight Outta Denmark, and Salome: Da Voodoo Princess of Nawlins.

Maharaj is the former Artistic Director of New Freedom Theatre. He founded Voices at the River in 2010, a program designed to support African-American and Latino playwrights both nationally and in Arkansas. He has held artistic residencies with Yale University, Alliance Theatre, Kennedy Center, Crossroads Theatre, Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Amas Musical Theatre and Nuyorican Poets Cafe.  He has been honored with the Woodie King Jr. Award for Outstanding Direction and four Vivian Robinson AUDELCO awards for his direction and choreography. Maharaj received eight Broadway World Philadelphia nominations, a nomination for the New York Innovative Theater Award as well a nomination for the S.A.L.T Award for Director of the year. He received grants for the Van Lier Directing Fellowship, Brooklyn Arts Council Grant, Winthrop Rockefeller Grant, Doris Duke Charitable Grant, Andrew W. Mellon Grant and Time Warner Diverse Voices Grant. He is the recipient of The State of New Jersey, the Senate and General Assembly Joint Legislative Resolution and Mercer County, New Jersey Board of Chosen Freeholders Certificate of Honor as well as the City Council of Philadelphia Citation. His work on The Ballad of Trayvon Martin was chosen as one of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society’s 2016 Moments of the Year. Maharaj is an alumnus of Lincoln Center Directors Lab and TCG Young Leaders of Color in the American Theater.

Adam Mace (Associate Artistic Director) is a Director and Playwright from Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

As a playwright Adam co-authored Mother Emanuel (NY Fringe Festival Award for Overall Excellence – Musical) and Sweet Lorraine. In addition Adam authored: R+J: An Uncivil Tale (Rebel Theater), Starbucks at the End of the World, Love and Stuff Like That (Mount Carmel Theatre Co.), Something About Tacos (Grex Group), and Thou Shalt Not (Tip My Cup Productions).  

In 2008, Adam founded Mount Carmel Theatre Company in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and served as it’s Producing Artistic Director for eight seasons. He went on to become the Associate Producing Artistic Director for Rebel Theater and then the Artistic Associate at New Freedom Theatre in Philadelphia. While at New Freedom Theatre, Adam created the Edwin Forrest Play Reading Series which was devoted to fostering new works and re-discovering lost works. 

Adam is the Head Writer and Director of Rockamole Productions!, a streaming sketch comedy company. He is also an accomplished NYC Teaching Artist. He holds his Master's Degree in Educational Theatre from New York University. Paul Wilt (Tech Director/Producing Associate) is a sound designer, producer, and musician with over 20 years experience in music production and performance. He is the founder of realNoise, LLC; a sound design / music production company based in New York City.  Through realNoise, he has worked with companies in fields ranging from space exploration (NASA) to Modern Dance (Dana Tai Soon Burges Dance Company). His works have been showcased in New York, Philadelphia, The Kennedy Center (Washington, DC), Yale University (Hartford, CT), and International Music Festivals.


The mission of realNoise is to tell the stories of our time through the voices of those who lived them. Utilizing audio processing techniques on first-hand interviews and recordings to build the foundation of the music, the DNA of the story is imbued in the sound. This has led to a strong partnership with Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj and Adam Mace in creating original Docu-Dramas that connect to our country as it is today. Past projects with this team include: The Trail of Tears (World Premiere, Nuyorican Poets Café, NYC), The Ballad of Trayvon Martin (World Premiere, New Freedom Theatre, Philadelphia, PA), Jamaica: The Musical (Phil, PA), Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope (2016, Philadelphia), Mother Emanuel: An American Musical Play (Winner 2016 NY FRINGE Award for Overall Excellence for a Musical), The Black Nativity (Phil., PA), and Dreamgirls (Yale University, CT - Head Sound Designer) As a member of the LGBTQ community, he strongly believes in the right and for all love to be accepted and celebrated.

Abdul Tubman (Producing Associate) was born in Monrovia, Liberia the capital of the African nation founded by freed slaves after the Emancipation Proclamation where his great grandfather, President William V.S. Tubman, became the 19th President of Liberia. Due to escalation of the civil war in the early 1990’s his mother fled to Kenya where his great grandfather Sir Sheikh Mbarak Hinawy was a previous governor of Mombasa, Kenya and Zanzibar; and was also knighted by Queen Victoria of England. Unfortunately they could not stay and had to leave only to finally settle in White Plains, NY where he grew up. At an early age also also found out that his 4th great aunt is Harriet Tubman, the abolitionist, civil war veteran and political activist.

 

In 2014 he was asked to be the  speaker for the second annual Father of the Year awards. He was the 2015 City of White Plains 45th Anniversary Certificate of Merit Honoree for the Month of April. In recognition of his efforts over the years in White Plains, New York as a leader in the young community he was recognized and awarded the Community Champion Award in 2015 by the White Plains Juneteenth Heritage Committee at their third annual awards gala. At the same Gala event he was also awarded a Humanitarian Proclamation from the Office of the County Executive of Westchester County in New York; from the City of White Plains in recognition of his community contribution and accomplishments where

In October 2019 he produced his first NYC Off Broadway Concert, Look What a Wonder which was performed in the historical St. Mark's Church in the Bowery. He holds an International MBA in Sustainability and Environmental Compliance from Southern  New Hampshire University and a BA in Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Minor in Project Management from Clarkson University.
